Hot tubs in Langley: local notes

Your water

Most of Langley City and Township gets soft Metro Vancouver water, at about 2 mg/L hardness. Aldergrove's treatment plant water is much harder, at about 163 mg/L, and the Acadia well system sits in between at about 65.

Electrical permit

Langley City and the Township both use Technical Safety BC for electrical permits. You need one for the hot tub circuit even when a licensed electrician does the work.

Delivery

Short trips from Production Way to Walnut Grove, Willoughby, Murrayville, Brookswood, Fort Langley and Aldergrove. Site checks are easy to fit in.

Buying a hot tub in Langley

Our hot tub store is at 5778 Production Way, so if you live in Langley you can see and sit in the tubs before you choose, without a long drive. We'll walk you through sizes from a 2–3 person tub for a townhouse patio to a 6–8 person tub for a family backyard, along with swim spas and plug-and-play models that run on a regular outlet.

Looking for a cold plunge in Langley? We can show you how a chiller-equipped cold plunge tub works, what power it needs and where it can sit, including on a covered patio or in a garage.

If you're weighing a new tub against a used one, our guide to buying a used hot tub covers what to check before you hand over any money.

Installing a hot tub in Langley

Langley has every kind of lot. Newer homes in Willoughby and parts of Walnut Grove tend to have compact backyards and narrow side yards, where a gate or a fence post can decide which tub fits. Older lots in Murrayville, Brookswood and Fort Langley often have more room but longer runs from the electrical panel. Acreages toward Aldergrove can mean long driveways and soft ground. On the site check we measure the path from the street, look at the spot and the panel, and tell you whether the tub goes in on a cart or needs a crane.

The tub needs a level base that can carry it full of water and people. See hot tub pads and bases for the options, or decks and gazebos if it's going on a deck. The electrical work needs a Technical Safety BC permit in both Langley City and the Township; our hot tub electrical page explains what the circuit involves.

Water in Langley

Most Langley homes are on soft Metro Vancouver water. Soft water is easy on the skin, but hot tub water with very little calcium can foam and be harder on heaters and pump seals, so most owners add a calcium hardness increaser after each fill. Aldergrove is the exception: its water is hard, so scale on the heater and jets is the thing to watch there. Our water care guide explains how to balance both.
