Hot tubs in Surrey: local notes

Your water

Surrey gets Metro Vancouver water, which is soft, at about 21 mg/L hardness. Most hot tub owners here add a little calcium after each fill.

Electrical permit

Surrey issues its own electrical permits, so the permit for your hot tub circuit comes from the City of Surrey rather than Technical Safety BC. It's needed even when a licensed electrician does the work.

Delivery

Cloverdale, Clayton and Fleetwood are minutes from our showroom. Newton, Panorama, Guildford and South Surrey are a short drive.

Buying a hot tub in Surrey

If you live in Surrey, our showroom at 5778 Production Way in Langley is just over the boundary. Come in and compare seats, loungers and jets, and bring photos of your yard so we can talk about what fits. We'll help you choose between a compact 2–3 person tub, a 4–5 person tub, a 6–8 person tub, a swim spa or a cold plunge tub.

A lot of Surrey homes have smaller backyards, especially in newer neighbourhoods like Clayton and Grandview Heights. A smaller tub or a plug-and-play model can make sense there, but so can a full-size tub on a well-planned base. We'd rather measure first than guess.

Installing a hot tub in Surrey

Every Surrey installation starts with a site check. We measure the path from the street, the gate and any tight corners, look at the spot and the base, and check your electrical panel. Townhouse and strata properties often have rules about where a tub can go and how it's delivered, so check with your strata before you buy. On narrow lots where a tub can't come through the side yard, we can bring it in by crane.

The base has to be level and strong enough for the tub full of water and people. Our hot tub pads and bases page covers concrete, pavers and gravel pads, and decks and gazebos covers tubs on decks.

The electrical permit is different in Surrey than in most of the Fraser Valley: the City of Surrey issues it, not Technical Safety BC. Our hot tub electrical page and permit guide explain what's involved.

Surrey lots and placement

Where the tub goes on a Surrey lot makes a difference day to day. Closer to the back door is easier on cold, wet evenings, and a spot near the house usually means a shorter electrical run. Check the distance to fences and property lines, any easements, and how the neighbours' windows look onto the spot if privacy matters to you. A tub on a deck or under a gazebo needs a structure designed for the weight; see decks and gazebos. We'll talk through the options on the site check.

Water in Surrey

Surrey's Metro Vancouver water is soft. That makes it easy to keep clear, but water that's low in calcium can foam and be harder on heaters and pump seals, so most owners add a calcium hardness increaser after each fill. Our water care guide explains how.
